It also makes some of the finest wines that North Georgia has to offer. Visiting the winery can serve as a great day of fun for the whole family and both dogs and kids are welcome.
In addition to featuring a variety of wines to try, the Fainting Goat Vineyards and Winery also features live music on the weekends. If you’re a wine lover and visiting Jasper, it’s well worth spending some time at this boutique vineyard and winery.
2. Take the Burnt Mountain Preserve Trail
If you are visiting Jasper, GA, another thing you’ll want to think about doing is walking the Burnt Mountain Preserve Trail. The Burnt Mountain Preserve is a 900-acre preserve that is owned by the county and features a rugged loop trail.
The 1.1-mile moderate-difficulty hike features beautiful views of wildflowers and wildlife. The trail is a bit on the steeper side but is well worth the effort for those who are willing to give it a try. You’ll catch views of a scenic creek and nature while in the preserve.
While better hikes can be found elsewhere in North Georgia, this is one of the best places to visit if you don’t want to veer too far away from downtown Jasper.
3. Check Out the Old Pickens County Jail
Another fun thing to do if you’re visiting Jasper is to check out the Old Pickens County Jail. This is one of the best historical sites in town. You and your family will have a great time taking a tour and getting a glimpse into the past. The jail was built in 1907 and can be found on Jasper’s North Main Street.

4. Get a Meal Downtown
If your stomach is rumbling when in Jasper, you’ll be happy to learn that there are some great places to get an impressive and delicious meal.
61 Main is one of the most popular dining options in the area and prides itself on using locally-sourced products as much as it can. The farm-to-table establishment serves seasonal cuisine and some amazing wines that will allow you to indulge your senses.
The Old Mulehouse Pub and Restaurant is another great option that serves some delicious eats as well as some amazing drinks. If you’re in the mood for seafood, however, you’ll want to go down the street to Last Catch, where you’ll find fresh seafood. You can also indulge in the best prime rib around at Last Catch on Friday and Saturday nights.
