On top of this, the covered outdoor sitting room will allow you and your lover to breathe in the mountain air and take in the beautiful scenery while dining.
If you’re more interested in Southern fare, you might want to visit Mully’s Nacoochee Grill, a casual, elegant place serving Southern and American food. Located in a restored farmhouse from the 1900s, a large portion of the dishes contain local farm-to-table ingredients.
Bavarian food is abundant in Helen, so there are also plenty of other options you can visit to get your fill. Bigg Daddy’s Restaurant, The Troll Tavern, and The Heidelberg are all great places to visit during a night out. You’ll be able to try sauerkraut, pretzels, goulash, German potato salad, and much more.
2. Visit a Local Winery or Vineyard

Habersham Vineyards and Winery is just outside of the downtown area but is a great place to spend an evening. Besides being one of the biggest and best wineries in the region, it’s also a comparatively old winery and has many different wine varieties to enjoy.
The Sweet Acre Farms Winery Tasting Room is also well worth a visit if you’re in downtown Helen, and features many great options from the Sweet Acre Farms Winery, located in nearby Alto, GA.
If these wineries alone aren’t enough for you, don’t worry. North GA has plenty of other wineries and vineyards as well that you can visit and enjoy.
3. Go on a Scenic Hike
If you want to spend a romantic day in Helen and you love the outdoors, you’ll be happy to learn that there are plenty of great hiking spots in the area. All you need is your hiking shoes and a little bit of time and you’ll be able to enjoy some of the most scenic areas in the state.

Raven Cliff Falls Trail, Dukes Creek Trail, and Anna Ruby Falls Trail are just a few of the great hiking trails that are within a short drive from the small town. Many of these trails also wind past magnificent waterfalls, lakes, and mountain views, so you’re unlikely to be disappointed.
4. Take a Walk in the Local Park
While there is no shortage of great hiking spots within a short drive to Helen, there are also some great walking paths in the town itself. If you want to have a walk with your loved ones, you can walk up to Unicoi Hill Park and enjoy the forested area there.
It’s a small park, but it’s a great place to have a short walk and relax for a bit. There’s a gazebo, benches, and a playground that you can use in case you’ve brought your kids with you on your trip. There are also some great places to take a photo as a memento of your visit to this Alpine town.
After resting in the park for a bit, you can walk down just a few feet to get to the nearby bars and restaurants and enjoy the rest of your evening.
5. Play a Round of Mini Golf

Not just a game for younger players or experienced golfers, mini-golf is fun for anyone. You’ll enjoy trying your skills at the 18-hole course while enjoying the weather. The holes of the course are located among beautiful gardens and the whole area has a great atmosphere and appearance to it.
After your game, you’ll be able to enjoy a bit of ice cream and take a few photos in the lush gardens.
