One of the best activities for adventure seekers of all ages is to ride some mountain paths and trails with an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) or four-wheeler. North GA isn’t just for hikers and mountain bikers. It’s a great place to explore with a bit more power as well.
In North GA, you’ll find some great trails for off-highway vehicles (OHV) located in the state’s beautiful national forest land as well as a few other cool spots.

1. Beasley Knob OHV Trails
Located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, the Beasley Knob OHV Trails offer plenty of challenging trails for experienced riders.
The trail system offers around 13.4 miles of recreational driving space for off-highway vehicle (OHV) lovers. You’ll find four-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles, UTVs, and ATVs on the trails.
The trail is only open from April to December and requires a pass to access.
2. Davenport Mountain OHV Trails
Also located in the Chattahoochee National Forest, the Davenport Mountain OHV Trails offer about 6 miles of trails for ATVs and dirt bikes. This looped trail takes you around Davenport Mountain and offers moderate grades and some great views of Nottely Lake.
The trail offers both easy and difficult sections, so riders of all ages will be able to enjoy time on these trails.
3. Houston Valley OHV Trails
The Houston Valley OHV Area is one of the best places to ride ATVs in North GA and is located in the Cohutta Mountains. It offers over 25 miles of four-wheeler trails.
The park has both easy and difficult trails, including hill climbs, creek crossings, and scenic views. The park also has a campground and picnic area.
4. Oakey Mountain OHV Trails
Oakey Mountain OHV Trails are located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest and offer 25 miles of trails for ATV and dirt bike riders.
The wooded area is located about 10 miles east of Dalton, GA, and is a great choice for riders of various skill levels. The trails vary in difficulty and terrain and include mountainous terrain and creek crossings.
5. Highland Park Off-Road Resort
Among the best places to ride ATVs in North GA, the Highland Park Off-Road Resort is located in Cedartown, Georgia, and has around 85 miles of four-wheeler trails.
The park has a variety of terrain, including hills, mud pits, and wooded trails. There are 40 one-way trails in total. Highland Park Resort also has a motocross track, rental ATVs, and a campground to make use of.
Keep in mind that there are costs for visiting the park. They vary based on age range and the type of vehicle that you bring. Passengers will need to pay to attend as well.
